Q & A: Len Sodenkamp

Len joins us from Boise, ID, where he paints majestic landscapes filled with purple mountain’s majesty, soaring eagles, and breathtaking aerial views.

How would you describe your style?

Impressionistic with overtones of realism.

What subjects do you enjoy working on?

Animals, sometimes people, mountains, trees, water, skies, sunsets, and rises. I call these works Earth Light Series. 
The stars, nebulas, galaxies, concepts of other worlds, these are Cosmic Light Series.

What medium(s) do you work in?

Oil, acrylic, and digital.

How has your process evolved?

From a print shop delivery van at 18 to an art degree at 26 and the next 44 years just learning; still learning.

What got you started creating art?

Early memories of grandpa’s landscapes that adorned my childhood home.

What artists influence your work?

Thomas Moran, Edger Payne, Fredrick Remington, especially his nocturne works. My favorite living contemporary artist is Robert Moore.
